What do you think about when you hear the words Kayak Nepal? Probably those epic pictures you have seen of raging torrents of rapids and non stop Grade V? Right? Many people are under the impression that you need to be an expert kayaker to paddle in Nepal. We are here to prove to you that this is just not the case!

Nepal has over 6,000 rivers ranging from Grade I to VI, which means we have a lot of choice when we are deciding which river to run, probably more than any other country in the world!

Are You A Total Beginner?

If you are a total beginner, Nepal offers the perfect opportunity to learn, with warm waters and climate. So when you take those unexpected swims you will not freeze like you might in when learning in the UK! For beginner kayakers, we recommend our 4 day Kayak Clinic on the Trisuli river where we will teach you everything you need to know about whitewater. (Think of the ‘cool points’ you’ll earn being able to go back and tell your mates you learnt to paddle in the shadow of the Himalaya’s!)

In our personal experience, we have regularly taken complete novices on the Sun Kosi River. We’ve taught them everything they needed to know and they have ended up kayaking 5 out of the 8 river days. When the river did get too big for them, they simply switched to the safety of the paddle raft and enjoyed the trip from there. Depending on your time scale there are lots of options for novices wanting to learn.

We don’t think any other country offers the quantity and quality of rivers for beginners in the world.

What About Intermediate Paddlers?

If, like many others out there, you are already a kayaker, paddled around the UK, in the Alps, maybe your a club boater, or just go out on the odd weekend you have spare BUT you have been put off coming to kayak Nepal by pictures of raging rapids descending from Everest and maybe just need a little bit more training to boost your skills and confidence, then Nepal is STILL the country for you. The Sun Kosi, Karnali or our famous Multi River Expedition are all perfect trips that will keep you safe, but also push your level and ability of kayaking. You’ll be amazed how much your kayaking ability will grow and grow on a weeks expedition out here. With big volume, pool drop rivers, it’s a great place to improve your skills.

Our Multiriver trip can be tailored to suit your ability and we can add or remove rivers as we see fit. We have taken hundreds of kayakers paddling in Nepal and many of them have left as better whitewater kayakers. Seriously – come and kayak Nepal!

Go on, Paddle Nepal!

Don’t be put off by the raging torrents you see in all the hardcore magazines, sure, they are out there, but there is stacks to do in Nepal for the intermediate paddler as well.

Don’t just take our word for it – read what some of our past clients have to say…

Nigel S – “The kayak trip down the Sun Kosi was a trip of a lifetime. The river has a magical quality to it sparkling gold. The GRG team’s organisation was perfect, with excellent kayakers leading and for safety, and raft support for kit … The GRG team were always there to fish us out if we finished up swimming, or to take us down rapids on the raft if we did not fancy kayaking them – totally safe with a large edge of excitement … I want to do it again!!!”

Marleen B – “I did a 4 day kayak clinic with GRG and enjoyed the whole experience. Received good tips on how to improve my kayaking skills and had great fun paddling and playing on and off the water with the team members … I highly recommend joining a trip or clinic with GRG particularly if you intent to spend some time to get to know the team – they are great fun! Thanks everyone and hopefully see you again one good day!”
