We love Trisuli Rafting, not only do we run rafting, kayaking and canyoning trips there every day, but it’s also our home and the base camp for the majority of our trips. We genuinely believe it’s one of the best day trips on offer in Nepal, and here’s why:
1 – It breaks up the long bus journeys between Kathmandu, Chitwan and Pokhara
The majority of people traveling around Nepal, will almost certainly have to make one journey between Kathmandu, Chitwan and Pokhara and we think, why sit on the bus for 8 hours when you can raft half of it! Break the journey up and have some fun! We’ll get you off at Chauraudi which is around a 3 hours drive from Kathmandu and give you an exciting wild ride down the river, stopping for a picnic lunch on the river banks before enjoying the biggest rapids of the day. We will take out of the river at Chumlingtar at our fixed tented camp, Gurung Valley, where you can either get changed and jump on the bus to Pokhara or spend a night under the stars and witness one of the nicest sunsets in Nepal at our camp and continue the journey the next day.
2- It’s great for the whole family
The Trisuli is a great river for family rafting. As it is big volume and there are relatively few rocks, it is much safer than some of the other rivers on offer in Nepal. We’ve got equipment to fit even the smallest of paddlers (the youngest we have ever taken is our own daughter at 18 months!!) so bring the whole family along today! Our guides are great with kids (a lot of them already have their own families) and we have all the expertise to give your children and fun, safe, awesome ride. We love taking children rafting, in fact our favourite trip to date was when we had a granddaughter and grandmother in the same raft!
3 – It’s the perfect place for newbies to learn to kayak
The are many sections of the Trisuli, some more gentle than others, which makes it the ideal place for beginners to learn. Right outside our camp there is a ‘lake’ where we can teach you the basics, before we paddle down and slowly build your confidence so at the end you can tackle up to grade III rapids… fancy giving it a go? Day by day we will build your ability and confidence and you’ll leave having fallen in love with kayaking, just like us! Book onto one of our beginner courses now.
4 – You can paddle on it the WHOLE year round
This is one of the few rivers in Nepal that you can go whitewater rafting on all year round. Even at low water in the winter, there is still enough volume of water to have a great time, and in the monsoon…well… you better be up for an adventure!
5 – Perfect for a quick getaway out of Kathmandu
If your only on holiday in Nepal for a short time, then you might not be able to join us for one of our world class expeditions. But that doesn’t mean you should miss out on all the fun. The Trisuli river is only a three hour drive from Kathmandu which means it’s possible to do it in a day (although, if you do have longer, we highly recommend staying over night at our tented camp.)
