ABOUT US
GRG Adventure Kayaking; We are whitewater rafting and kayaking specialists and can’t wait to take you on an adventure of a lifetime. We established GRG Adventure Kayaking in early 2009 and decided to pool together our international whitewater rafting, kayaking and canyoning experience to create our company. In this short time, we have become one of the leading white water rafting companies in Nepal. The ultimate aim of establishing GRG’s was to break out of the mold of run of the mill “herd them in herd them out” tour operators and bring a new element to travel in Nepal. We want to provide you with a fun, safe, eco-friendly trip.
GRG stands for Gurung River Guides and you won’t find any other company that is as professional, has as much experience coaching and guiding and is as dedicated to Nepal than us.
We are a small, professional, award winning, local Nepali run company passionate about adventure which means we can give you more time and a more personal, hands on experience. We have lived in Nepal all our lives so we know the best parts to show you and have the kind of knowledge that cannot be found in a guidebook (although you will find us in the Lonely Planet!)
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
We have a great safety record (‘Safety First’ is our favourite motto here). From keeping our first aid qualifications up to date to constantly checking our equipment and first aid boxes, we know what needs to be done to keep you safe on the water. Read more…
All of our award winning, world class industry guides are fluent in English, undertake regular training throughout the year and are fully insured through GRG’s. We also encourage and support our guides working overseas in the off season in Nepal. We provide good salaries and support their families.
They also have all the necessary qualifications and registrations including:
Nepali Guide License from NARA, (Nepal Association of Rafting Agents)
Rescue 3 WRT International (Whitewater Rescue Technician)
International Rafting Federation Certification. From our Junior staff holding their Grade III Guide to our seniors with Grade IV/V Trip Leader
First Aid – British and Nepali Red Cross certification, Wilderness First Aid.
Members of HRGAN, (Himalayan River Guide Association)
Not only are we passionate about rafting, but we also think it is our responsibility to take care of the communities we travel through, which is why we created the GRG FOUNDATION. We are dedicated to our country and the future of it, as such this is at the front of our mind in every trip that we run. From supporting local street kids centers, rubbish picks, talks in local communities about waste disposal, supporting local projects and schools. We try our hardest to keep Nepal beautiful. That’s right! GRG has had the privilege of winning many awards and is top rated on many review sites. Awards include the prestigious Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence which we have one every year since the award was launched (2012-2018). We were also awarded the Global Water Sports Company of the Year 2016 by the Luxury Travel Guide.
We like to think that we are a little bit different to other rafting companies in Nepal and can provide that little bit more! From birthday cakes on the river, champagne on special occasions, watermelon punch just because it’s delicious, your favourite casserole, non profit trips for deserving causes (See our Buddist Monk Trip), masseuses or yoga instructors on our 8 day Sun Kosi trips, guitars and drums around the camp fire, saunas on the beach, custom tours, temple visits on rafting trips, rubbish collections as we paddle down. Let us know what you would like to see and we’ll make it happen
