Trekking in Nepal
Trekking in Nepal has captured the imaginations of mountaineers and explorers for over 100 years. The lifestyle and culture of the people who inhabit the mountain regions has not changed for generations. The village people offer a huge sense of hospitability and welcome to trekkers and mountaineers a like, its often from the people that trekkers take there fondest memories.
Of course Nepal also offers the highest mountains in the world. Mountains like Sagarmatha, Manaslu and Dhaulagiri are major attractions for trekkers coming to Nepal. Trekking here gives you the chance to walk amongst these giants and in some cases to the very foot of them, where you truly will be exhilarated. The mountains arn't the only attractin here but also a diverse range of flora and fauna. Many of Nepal’s trekking regions are encompassed by national parks with a huge amounts of wildlife, some of them rare and endangered. If you are lucky you may spot a tiger or if you are very lucky an elusive snow leopard. Any trek in Nepal will involve walking through diverse forests, from sub tropical to alpine as well as different environments, like barren mountain landscapes , lush alpine meadows and rocky snow covered passes, not to mention the ice falls, glaciers, high altitude and frozen lakes…What more could you want form a trekking holiday? Trekking season
There are two seasons for trekking in Nepal, the Spring time and the Autumn time. Spring falls from the beginning of March through to the end of May and the Autumn season is from mid September to the end of November. This later season is considered as the peak time for trekking in Nepal with favorable weather conditions and fantastic clear views. The early Spring seasons is defiantly the prettier time to come for wild flowers and greenery but good views are not always guaranteed.
Trekking is also possible in the winter season of December through to February but only recommended at lower altitudes and you should be prepared for extreme cold and snow. Out of these times, June through to the beginning of September is the monsoon, trekking is possible in some areas but not recommended at higher altitudes.
